I’m really happy with the new Yahoo! Search. I’ve been getting consistently better results over the past few months (I did switch my primary search engine to Yahoo! from Google when I started my internship) and the new features are exactly what I thought was needed – use what Yahoo! has that Google doesn’t. I still think that close integration with properties like Upcoming.org that actually harness user input would go even further (i.e. adding event results in a sidebar, especially if the user’s ZIP is known)
Yahoo! Mail, on the other hand, continues to disappoint me; I can’t write about the matter because it involves an exchange that occurred on an internal medium. I’ll just say this: I’ve taken quite a bit of time to get to know all the properties at Yahoo! since coming there, and have actually fallen in love with quite a few. I’ve been especially impressed with the progress a lot of them have made in recent months. Mail continues to be the hardest to love on so many levels.
